Back in NJ
Yesterday, Pat and I made the extremely long trip back to Wantage. We listened to several awesome CDs on the way, and we got stuck in Hartford, CT, during rush hour traffic. Awesome. Hahaha. Then, when I got home, I stayed for maybe 30 minutes and got into my car with Nikki and drove to my dad's. So basically, I was in the car from 3:30pm to 10:30pm. Wow, seven hours. It wasn't too bad though.

Today was my brother's fourth birthday party. It was fun. When I woke up, my grandma made me French toast... I don't know why, but grandmas always make the best French toast. It must be a secret grandma thing. Then, when everybody came over, we had pizza, and then we all ate birthday cake. It was awesome. After that, my dad made a fire in the portable fire pit he has, and we all sat around the fire.

Today was awesome. Mainly because it's not too hot down here, so it actually feels like fall. On the way home from my dad's, I noticed that the leaves were changing colors, and I remembered what it is that I love about living in this little corner of New Jersey. Sure, there may not be much to do, and there may be a lot of Republicans (I know my friends don't like Sussex County for this reason), but the scenery is beautiful, and it's so perfect. The fall has always been my favorite season... especially here. It was always so awesome to be able to walk outside and look at the trees changing colors. And when the leaves changed colors, that meant that the annual neighborhood trip to West Point was coming, and that pretty soon, I would have to figure out what to be for Halloween, which is tied with Christmas as my favorite holiday. The changing leaves also meant colder weather, so I'd get to wear pants all the time, and maybe a light jacket or sweatshirt. I'll always feel the same way about the fall, even years from now.

Maybe some people don't actually like to live in Sussex County, but I never really cared. I may be from Bergen County, but this was where I spent most of my childhood, and this is where my home will always be. Even if I'm living in Boston. I think many trips back during the fall are in order because that's when I really miss New Jersey.

... Now I really want to go trick-or-treating.
